Dr. Chris Trotter

Dr Chris Trotter is an Associate Professor in the department of Social Work at Monash University in Australia. Prior to his appointment to Monash he worked for many years as a social worker and manager in child protection, juvenile justice and adult probation and parole. He has undertaken many research projects and published more that more than 50 articles and book chapters during the past decade. He has two commercial books. Working with Involuntary Clients, now in its second edition, is published by Allen and Unwin in Australia and by Sage internationally. It has sold widely and is also available in German, Japanese and Chinese translation. Dr Trotter’s second book Helping Abused Children and their Families is also published by Allen and Unwin and Sage. Dr Trotter has developed a worldwide reputation for his work on involuntary clients and has undertaken consultancies in most Australian states as well as New Zealand, Canada, Austria, UK, Ireland, Jersey and Singapore to assist probation services. The cognitive centre has under licence undertaken hundreds of pro-social modelling training courses for probation officers and other human service professionals in the UK.
